Short film film that follows a dancer exploring through the outskirts of Iowa City, IA. Directed and produced by Angelica DeLashmette Hurst, Kate Vincek, and Mariko Ishikawa at the University of Iowa.

“The Solitaires” embodies the writing of Martha Mukaiwa, a writer for the University of Iowa’s International Writers Program 2019. The work explores themes of repetition, contagiousness, and the never ending cycle of love and violence.

A dance film in which the main character becomes a fantastical alter ego of herself. Like Angel, she journeys through spaces of cold desolation and the quietly comforting wilderness, trying to reconcile the either/or fallacies between wilderness and civilization, between masculine and feminine, between growth and destruction.

A short film that utilizes the concepts of puppeteering and stop motion to bring motion and life to inanimate objects.

The final product of a process based work that investigates, embodies and remembers human connection with natural elements of the earth through the spiritual, somatic, and creative self. The first solo, Resurface, encapsulates the process through which the dancing body connects with nature.
